Call for Abstracts

The ANZFSS 2025 committee invites prospective authors to submit abstracts for oral, poster and workshop presentations for a wide range of themes in the forensic science field. Submissions can be made via the Abstract Submission Portal linked above.

All abstracts must follow the instructions listed below, follow the submission template format found here, and be submitted online by 23:59 (AEST), 9 February 2025 – this date should match what is in the submission brief supplied by the client, so please update and ensure this aligns with the closing date of the portal in EventsAIR. Please note that the closing date for abstract submission will not be extended.

Abstract Submission Details and Guidelines

  • Abstracts must follow the submission template
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English
  • Abstracts must be submitted by 11:59pm (AEDT), 26 January 2025 for consideration by the committee
  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts that an individual can submit
  • Abstracts must not exceed 300 words (excluding the title, authors and affiliations) and should follow the instructions within the abstract submission portal
  • The use of abbreviations and acronyms should be kept to a minimum
  • There is no fee for submitting an abstract but all accepted presentations must be linked to a paid registration by the author registration deadline on 20 June 2025

Abstract Format

All abstracts should follow the template linked above.

Once you have submitted your abstract, you will receive an automated submission successful email. If you do not receive an e-mail within 24-hours please contact the Symposium Secretariat.

Oral Presentation

All oral presentations will be grouped into sessions throughout the Symposium. Further specifications about Oral Presentations will be sent to successful authors after the results date.

Poster Presentation

Poster presentations will be on display throughout the Symposium. Further specifications about poster presentations will be sent to successful authors after the results date.

Workshops

Half-day or full-day workshops will occur throughout the Symposium. Further specifications about workshop sessions will be sent to successful authors after the result date.

Terms and Conditions

Whilst every effort will be made to accept an abstract for the presentation type selected in the submission process, Symposium Secretariat reserves the right to allocate a different presentation type if it is deemed more appropriate and if program space is limited.

The submission of an abstract indicates an understanding of the following rules for participation in ANZFSS 2025:

  • The work contained within the file is your own, or the work of a group to which you are directly associated
  • The submitting author has the permission of all co-authors to publish the data contained within the file and will supply related contributions for the submission
  • Acknowledgement that if accepted for a presentation at the symposium a paid registration will be required from the presenting author
  • The author(s) agree(s) to materially confine their presentations to information in the abstract if accepted for presentation
  • The presenting author will be available to present the abstract if selected for the program. The presenting author will immediately notify the Symposium Secretariat if they are unable to present an abstract or if the presenting author changes
  • All authors of the abstract warrant and represent that they either are the sole owners of, or have all necessary rights to, sublicense all the information and content in the abstract provided to ANZFSS 2025 and its organisers, and that publication of the abstract does not infringe any rights, including but not limited to, intellectual property rights, or of any third parties
  • Understand that by submitting the abstract file you are granting ANZFSS 2025, or any third-party authorised by ALCC ANZFSS, the right to reproduce and/or communicate (make available on-line or electronically transmit) the file I have submitted for the purposes of the Symposium
  • Understand that the Conference Organising Committee, Symposium Secretariat, or authorised third parties, are not liable for any legal action or costs pertaining to action sought on publishing or reproducing this file
  • ANZFSS 2025 reserves the right to remove from any publication any abstract that does not comply with the above
